Extra patrol on King County highways for Super Bowl weekend

The Washington State Patrol reminds motorist there will be extra troopers enforcing DUI, speed, and aggressive driving laws on King County highways for Super Bowl weekend.

This weekend King County will be staffing an extra 22 troopers in the effort to keep our highways safe by eliminating fatality and serious injury collisions.

“Last year troopers apprehended 34 DUI’s and we were happy to report that there were no fatality collisions on King County highways during Super Bowl weekend.  We are hoping for the same outcome this year,” Capt. Steve Burns said.

Alcohol impairs peoples judgment and decision making ability. WSP would like to remind motorists to make prior arrangements before leaving for a party. Arrange for sober transportation to and from a location or make arrangements to stay the night. Plan ahead so you’re not forced to make a decision after you have been drinking.

WSP encourages motorists to call 911 if they observe an impaired or aggressive driver. The caller will need to provide the location, direction of travel, a vehicle description (color, make, and model), a license plate if available, and a brief summary of what the vehicle is doing.
