The following in is a press release from the Washington State Patrol.

A 25-year-old Bremerton man was killed after he drove his 2000 Jeep Cherokee eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-90 and collided head on with a box truck just west of North Bend. Two others were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

At 12:26 a.m. Saturday a trooper was traveling westbound I-90 in the left lane and as the roadway curved to the left at mile post 28 the trooper was face to face with a wrong way vehicle. The trooper quickly swerved onto the left shoulder to avoid the vehicle. The wrong way driver also swerved to his left, and in turn collided head-on with a 2007 Ford box truck that was traveling in the left center lane behind the trooper.

The driver of the Jeep was killed as a result of the collision. His 25-year-old female passenger, also a Bremerton resident, and the driver of the box truck, a 43-year-old Lynnwood man, were both transported to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries. The trooper was not injured.

All westbound lanes of I-90 were closed at exit 31 for approximately 3 hours while detectives and troopers investigated the scene.
